Elderberries:

Elderberries have been used for their healing properties to treat common illnesses through many generations. It has been used to treat anything from sinus infections, colds, coughs, and flus. Elderberries are very high in Vitamin C, contain the flavanol quercetin, and are rich in phenolic acids and anthocyanins, which are both a type of antioxidant. All these antioxidants help to reduce inflammation and damage caused by oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is damage caused by excessive free radicals in the body, free radicals are unstable atoms which contribute to various illnesses and diseases. When combined with other spices and raw honey, elderberry syrup is a great way to get a lot of nutrients into your body, either through daily doses or supplementation when sick. Ceylon Cinnamon


Ceylon cinnamon is a great source of Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Potassium, Zinc, and Magnesium. It also has lots of antioxidants to help fight off free radicals.

Ginger


Ginger contains gingerol which has strong anti-inflammatory effects and may reduce oxidative stress. Ginger has long been used to aid digestion, reduce nausea, provide pain relief, and help fight symptoms of flu and common cold illnesses.

Turmeric


Curcumin is the main medicinal property of turmeric, and it is known for it’s powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and may help improve depression.

Black Pepper


Black pepper boosts absorption of essential nutrients, specifically curcumin from turmeric. Black Pepper contains piperine, which boosts the absorption of curcumin by 2,000%.

Star Anise


Star anise produces an oil that contains thymol, terpineol and anethole, which are all useful for treating cold/flu symptoms. Star Anise can also be helpful for treating digestive issues like constipation, nausea, and cramps.

Cloves

Raw honey is not included with the kit, but we highly recommend adding it if possible. Not only will it make your elderberry syrup taste delicious, there are many health benefits to it as well! Raw honey is unpasteurized, leaving it’s natural healing properties in tact. Raw honey contains so many nutrients including, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, amino acids, enzymes, prebiotics, and phytonutrients.
